Spent Block Pickup in partnership with Smallhold

We are once again partnering with Smallhold for yet more fruiting blocks giveaways to our members.
If your last block didn't work out if you'd like a few more or if the previous date didn't fit your schedule you're in luck.
Smallhold will be giving away spent blocks of Blue Oyster mushrooms and Lion's Mane on the following Fridays between noon and 5pm:
  • August 12 (this coming Friday)
  • September 9
  • October 7
There is no limit on the number of blocks but Smallhold ask that you register for these events.
The address is 32 Taaffe Place Brooklyn NY 11205
It's located near the Navy Yard and the new Naval Cemetery park between Clinton Hill and South Williamsburg. The B57 bus stops just around the corner and the B54 bus stops two blocks away.
The blocks require a biggish shopping bag or other container for easy transportation. The Blue Oyster blocks weigh 7 lbs and the Lion's Mane blocks 5 lbs.
These are spent blocks from commercial production that can be made to flush again or can be used to improve soil and compost. Find out more about how to do this by watching our lectures and consulting our Q+A document.
We thank Smallhold and NYMS volunteers who have made this partnership possible!
