Alley Pond Park, Queens, Pop-up Walk, July 16, 2022. After a long dry spell, the skies delivered about an inch of rain just as our walk was set to begin. (Meanwhile, most of Brooklyn remained dry.) One stunning Amanita subcokeri nom. prov. appeared in the woods despite the long dry spell. A pine which we know to host both Lachnellula resinaria and Lachnellula ellisiana was awash in the tiny white and yellow cups of the latter species, which must have perked up because of the drenching rain. It was also massive polypore day. We found a very impressive Berkeley's Polypore where we regularly see it near the restrooms and Barry Ma found a huge Black-staining Polypore. At the other end of the scale, Porodisculus pendulus, the smallest polypore, made an appearance as well.
